Still as the Pines
Still as the Pines draws on Appalachian folk, Americana, country blues and the long tradition of songs built around people, places and hard choices. Acoustic guitars, fiddle, banjo and roots instrumentation frame a weathered male voice that favours storytelling over polish. The songs travel through mountain roads, railways, frontier towns, family histories, murder ballads, lost love and the uneasy space between leaving home and remembering it. Rather than recreating old-time music as museum material, Still as the Pines uses its language and atmosphere to tell new stories with an inherited sense of place. The result is earthy, cinematic American roots music shaped by ballad tradition, rural folklore and characters who tend to carry more history than they first reveal.
